From 6 – 11 May 2018 the Dutch Embassy in Beijing, the Dutch consulate in Guangzhou and Task Force Health Care (TFHC), will organize an elderly care Mission to China, led by Director General of Longterm Care Mr. Kees van der Burg.

Background

China has a growing elderly population, the country has 230 million elderly and that number is climbing rapidly. Adequate operators and trained nurses, as well as smart and safe home and community care solutions are lacking. This provides opportunities for Dutch elderly care companies, providers, knowledge institutes and innovators to engage with China on its challenges in elderly care.

The Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Chinese Ministry of Health, to further cooperate on Elderly Care. Elderly care is a priority for the Chinese government and it has installed a National Elderly Care Committee. This Committee has a vision for longterm care, with homecare at the base, community based care second and institutional care for support. In order to professionalise the Chinese Elderly Care, the central government encourages international parties to collaborate.

Task Force Health Care works with a dedicated consortium towards Sino-Dutch cooperation on Elderly Care who, supported by the Dutch government, make this mission possible.

The Mission

The aim of the mission is to get introduced into the Chinese Elderly Care sector and look for cooperation with Chinese Elderly Care organisations.

The mission will consist of a visit to Guangzhou in combination with participation on a Holland Pavilion at the China International Senior Service Expo in Beijing.

The China International Senior Service Expo (CISSE) in Beijing is the main fair for elderly care in the country.
