Together with the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, the Netherlands Embassy in Bogotá and the Holland House Colombia, future steps and activities were identified to further connect Colombian and Dutch healthcare stakeholders and strengthen the existing sustainable healthcare relationships.

As a result, the number of incoming delegations from Colombia has grown steadily. In June (2019) the Dutch LSH sector welcomed a delegation specialized in Oncology & Palliative Care. Both Colombia and the Netherlands are no exception to this public health problem. Cancer is a growing problem in Colombia, as its incidence affects both the adult as well as the paediatric population. Currently, it is ranked 62nd (among 82 countries) on the Death Quality Index (DQI) regarding palliative care. With respect to oncology and palliative care, Dutch knowledge and experience can help strengthen the Colombian health system and care organizations in this field.

In October (2019) a second Meet & Greet was organized as part of the program of an incoming delegation of clinical directors of cancer clinics and/or oncology outpatient clinics in (university) hospitals and health insurers. To safeguard a structural contribution to the improvement and sustainability of healthcare in Latin America (with the use of Dutch expertise), we pursue comprehensive, innovative and sustainable health sector developments. Developments in which we stimulate collaboration and knowledge sharing, and take into account the local needs and demands.

Latin America and Colombia, with its stable economic growth, expose opportunities and market entry considerations with a focus on three main areas of interests of Colombian stakeholders linked to Dutch strengths: Public Health, Digital Solutions (eHealth, Big Data & VBHC) and Ageing & Senior Care. Based on the mutual opportunities for business, there will be a Meet & Greet organized in April with a Colombian delegation focused on Healthy Ageing & Senior Care, followed by a Life Sciences & Health Visit and Holland Lounge in  Colombia from 25 -29 May.
