MyDiagnostick Medical (MDM), part of Applied Biomedical Systems and developer of the MyDiagnostick, became a TFHC member in 2013. Commercial Director Jos de Wolf: “MyDiagnostick Medical joined the TFHC only one year after its inception, and being a partner gave our company a sales boost right from the start!”

MyDiagnostick was developed in cooperation with a Dutch cardiologist in 2010. The MyDiagnostick measures heart rates in order to detect signs of Atrial Fibrillation (AF), a heart condition that leads to an increased risk of ischemic stroke. In addition to the increased stroke risk, AF patients are at risk for developing chronic heart failure and increased mortality.. By holding the MyDiagnostick, patients receive an ECG in under a minute and can easily test for symptoms of AF. Although the medical and scientific community are enthusiastic about the product, it is not yet widely available in the Netherlands. De Wolf: “The Dutch market can be tough: funding is an obstacle and the healthcare landscape can be difficult navigate. Therefore, we initially focused on private markets, often abroad. MDM already has distributors in various European countries and will begin export to Australia soon. One of the main new focus areas we’re actively working on is Asia.”

After joining the TFHC, MDM exhibited in various Holland Pavilions at international trade fairs. “I’m certain that participation at trade fairs can help to accelerate business”, says De Wolf. “I’ve experienced this myself at the Arab Health: despite our relatively small presence at the fair, people could easily find us and make a personal connection. The development of a sustainable partnership takes time, of course, but we follow-up many leads this year and expect a significant acceleration of our business.”

MDM is also proud participant in the first edition of the Health Holland International Starter programme [HHINT] executed by the Task Force Health Care [TFHC]. De Wolf: “Our company has international ambitions and an innovative product, we just lack experience with entrepreneurship abroad. The HHINT program offered us a unique opportunity to receive tailored advice and coaching with regards to our international strategy. Both the HHINT participation and the TFHC partnership have helped to shape MDMs direction through the identification of new opportunities and critical assessment of potential new markets. The ease with which the TFHC can be reached for advice is another benefit of the programme.”
