How to improve healthcare on 3 continents simultaneously

TFHC Partner Spectator Video Technology (Spectator) delivers structural improvements in health systems by introducing telemedicine solutions which enable access to healthcare independent of gender, race, religion, social status or geographical location. In practice, Spectator arms health facilities by delivering the hardware, software and training to use telemedicine to its full effect. Spectator’s Communication Platform (SCP) is a state-of-the-art multi-application and multiprotocol platform to provide various mission critical applications and value added services for the Security, Healthcare and Multimedia markets.

In 2017 Spectator Video Technology joined the Task Force Health Care in trade missions to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Colombia and Kenya and visited the trade fair Hospitalar 2017 in Brazil. All three activities led Frans Hermes, Managing Director and founder of Spectator Video Technology, to see his company making big steps on three different continents: ‘’Public support and especially the Task Force Health Care create strong and lasting ties with countries and international health stakeholders which benefit us greatly by enabling us to continually engage with partnering countries. Traveling under the banner of Health~Holland opens-up doors to high-level stakeholders.’’

A quick glance at Spectator’s successful activities throughout 2017:

United Arab Emirates

Health facilities in the United Arab Emirates do not offer primary care. Patients in many cases directly consult specialists for their ailments. Spectator Video Technology and its local partner CADD Emirates vowed to change that in an MoU they signed during matchmaking at the 2017 mission to Abu Dhabi and Dubai. As a result of the MoU, Spectator’s solution will be used by Manzil Health Care Services all over UAE to connect patients to call and service centers, equipped with the SCP platform, which greatly improve both the efficiency and quality of healthcare for the involved patients by offering them features such as tele-consults, serious gaming tools and communication with family and friends.

Colombia

In Colombia, Spectator Video Technology is aiding insurance agency Coomeva and tech supplier Conecta Colombia to set-up a similar call center in April 2018. This call center will be operational to improve care for elderly patients, after surgery and patients with chronic health issues, as well as for primary care. It was a challenge to align the three stakeholders, from opposite sides of the Atlantic, on the project but Spectator managed to keep up a continuing dialogue through their Latin American regional office in Colombia, and through participating in the Meditech 2016 trade fair and joining following incoming and outgoing TFHC  missions from and to Colombia. Now the call center is expected to be operational in April.

Brazil

Their spot at the Hospitalar 2017 led Spectator Video Technology to currently run 4 pilot projects in Brazil. This is an exciting development as teleconsults for primary care still are not officially allowed in Brazil, only remote medical orientation The Laws and rules however are expected to change in the near future. Now amongst others a home care provider, a major pharmaceutical call centre,  and the telemedince department of the university in Sao Paulo are evaluating Spectator’s system for primary care, elderly care and other remote Healthcare service purposes.

Kenya

Lastly, Spectator Video Technology is working with Amref and Safaricom (telecom provider) to set-up a similar call center in Kenya. After an outgoing mission to Kenya in 2017, Spectator is negotiating with Amref to use an existing clinic for a pilot project to support medical centres in rural areas, of which Safaricom will deliver the infrastructure.
