With more than 100 years' experience, Cordaid is one of the largest development aid organizations in the Netherlands. Cordaid Healthcare unit aims at providing affordable and accessible healthcare for the most vulnerable, particularly to mothers and children around the world.
By focusing its work on Health System Strengthening and Sexual & Reproductive health, Cordaid works towards a sustainable and transparant healthcare system. To reach this goal, Cordaid uses the proven conceptof Result-Based Financing (RBF). This method creates a direct link between funding and results and introduces check and balances along the service delivery chain. It encourages better governance, transparency and enhanced accountability.
Together with local actors, Cordaid rebuilds trust and stability by tackling multiple challenges in healthcare such as disease prevention and control, health workers training, family planning education, health rights advocacy, sexual and reproductive awareness, antenatal, obstrectic and postnatal care, etc.
Cordaid also works closely in partnership with the private sector. By implementing solar energy systems in rural health clinics, using text messages for data collection and monitoring or by developing an affordable and basic ultra sound device to motor pregnant women, Cordaid and its partners offer innovative and sustainable solutions to specific needs in fragile areas.
So far, Cordaid Healthcare has worked in 22 countries, running more than 210 projects for a total budget of €221,186,927 (open data July 2015)Public Health
